Anna Matsumoto /antech
An undergraduate student at Stanford, studying Physical Design + Manufacturing.
My work explores HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) through the lense of "Touch,"
focusing on Tactile Interaction and Accessibility Research.
Building on my research, I am also passionate about Interactive Multimedia, starting from 2024.
Exhibiting my paintings in 4 countries since 2020, I recognized the limitation of visual dependency.
Now, I focus on creating multi-sensory experiences intertwining audio-visual-haptic for better affordance.
01
Physical Interaction
I aim to create intuitive tactile experiences, making technology accessible
for BLV (Blind and Low Vision) users, as well as for everyone.

Tactile Aids on Educational 3D-Printing Models
Stanford Mechanical Engineering: Independent Research at SHAPE Lab
Developing 3D-printable tactile aids onto existing educational models to enhance cognitive labeling and simplify assembly tasks. First-Author Paper accepted to CHI 2025 LBW
Interactive Spheres (2025.3-)

Personal Project, Work in Progress [TouchDesigner, Arduino]
Developing reactive spheres that turns audio-visual experiences into touching. Connecting sound source directly into TouchDesigner, detect the beats, and send the 0/1 signal to Arduino.

Gesture Based Motor Testing (2025.3)
Detecting human gestures and transforming into touchable shape. Integrating sensors and running MediaPipe with Python, integrating components on TouchDesigner.
Personal Project, Work in Progress

Multimedia
Building on my research, I am passionate about creating interactive spaces
where haptic exploration, human behavior, audio, and visuals intertwine.

Puppets (2024.8)
Interactive Multimedia Performance [collaborating with Libby Ye]
(MAX 8, CHydra, OBS, Wekinator, Premiere Pro, Reaper, Eeg, Wave Ring)
Stanford CCRMA (Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics)
Controlled bass sound with EEG headset (brainwaves and head rotation) and high frequencies with Wave Ring (finger moves), while manipulating each other as "Puppets." Live-coded visuals in CHydra, processed in OBS.

Crochella Official 3D-CG Animations (2025.3)
Designed 3D-CG Animations for Crochella, Stanford's biggest campus music festival.
3D-CG Animations
(Blender, Adobe Illustrator)
Design Kids, Stanford University

Knowledge is Power (2024.12)
10 minutes AR narrative about current wheelchair accessibility issues on campus. Immersive soundscape, incorporating AR visuals and physical interaction through chair and ramp. Including interviews from stakeholders of campus accessibility.
AR Walking Narrative [Full Experience Screen Record]
(Unity, Blender, Vuforia, Reaper)
Stanford Art Gallery / Meyer Green

VJ Projection Works (2025.3 - )
3D-CG Animation
(Blender, Polycam)
Projected in Stanford d.school, Gray Area San Francisco
Projecting works as antech.

VOGA Compilation Vol.2 (2024.6)
Real-Time VJ Performance. Audio-reactive 3D Computer Graphics. Pre-recorded CG animations correspond to the sound, beats, and the audience's movement.
Interactive Multimedia
(Blender, TouchDesigner)
HVEN Nakameguro, Tokyo, Japan

Day N Mayfield (2025.4)
On-site AR Experience for Stanofrd's biggest student band event Day N Mayfield. AR games, photo booth, and interactions.
Scanning the whole Mayfield Avenue with Vuforia, created AR environment on Unity. Uploaded Beta App, distributed to students.
AR Walking Experience

TreeHacks Venue Entrance (2025.2)
Animations and Projection Mappings for TreeHacks Venue Entrance.
Interactive Multimedia
(Blender, TouchDesigner. Adobe Illustrator)
TreeHacks, Stanford University

Burning Away the Past (2024.3)
As the audience touches the switch and eats bitter melon, projections appear on three walls and on their bodies, while front hologram plays the main story. The heater activates in the end, changing the room's temperature to enhance the story.
Interactive Multimedia, Immersive Space [antech × chenoutta10]
(Blender, TouchDesigner, Arduino, Pepper's Ghost Effect using Sphere)
Stanford Art Gallery

CHydra (Live Coding Visual) (2024.9)
Interactive Live Coding Visual, based on the code written in chuck. Corresponding the scene, program the visal pattern.
Interactive Multimedia
(Chuck + Hydra)
Personal Projects, Learned in CCRMA

Doppelgänger Performance (2024.9)
Interactive Multimedia Performance (only background video here)
(MAX 8, Reaper, Adobe Premiere Pro)
Stanford CCRMA (Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics)
Performed live harmonies in real-time alongside pre-recorded videos of ourselves playing bass sound. Generated non-existent instruments with capturing body movements, and used a MIDI keyboard to mix our voices.

Instinctive Beats (2024.1)
As the audience dances more, the melody grows louder and the visuals become more dynamic. To dive into the music, we must keep dancing with our entire body. Captured the excitement of entering the venue through "Beats."
Interactive Multimedia [antech × chenoutta10]
(Blender, TouchDesigner)
